„Obary” – Grzegorz Szkutnik

The exhibition site – The Academic Centre for Culture and Art “Od Nowa”, ul. Gagarina 37a, Toruń

The Vernissage – 30th of November 2019, at 11 am

The exhibition was designed on the occasion of the upcoming 45th anniversary of granting reserve protection to natural parts of transitional bogs and high moors of sub-continental type, located in the western part of the Solska Forest complex in the area administered by the Biłgoraj Forest Inspectorate.

This unique area of the Obary peat bog national reserve fascinated the author more than 15 years ago when he first found his way here. The unique atmosphere of the vast peat bog with dwarf pine trees, fogging at dawn, coloured with a coherent sound palette of wildlife sounds, with the crane clangour playing the first fiddle, made Obary an oasis of peace and quiet, a place to enjoy one’s passion for wildlife photography.

The exhibition features selected photographs illustrating characteristic elements of the landscape of the nature reserve photographed in the existing conditions during the four seasons, taken in the years 2012-2019 – during the period when the author held the appropriate permission to move around the protected area and photograph nature.
