Michał Zygmunt

Michał Zygmunt — a musician, sound engineer, composer of theatre and film music, author of professional field recordings, producer of radio plays. For many years, he has been involved in the Oder river, carrying out projects and activities to promote values, ethos, history, tradition, crafts, old professions and ethnography of the Oder and Nadodrze areas. The author of several records and publications related to the heritage of the Oder River as well as its natural beauty; the author of a series of Odra Guitars, instruments produced from trees growing along the Oder River, and “Dźwiękowy Szlak Odry” (The Trail of the Sounds of the Oder River) consisting of a designated field trail with wooden lens. Michał is an artistic director, co-author and a leader of educational projects, such as Łemkowie z Nad Odry (Lemkos from the Odra River), Legnicka Mapa Dźwiękowa (Legnica Sound Map), and Polish-Norwegian music festival Punkt Eklektik Session. He conducts workshops and educational activities, cooperating as a lecturer with the University of Wrocław, Statek Kultury (The Boat of Culture); Michał also runs his authorial workshops and sound presentations in cooperation with museums and cultural institutions all over the country; his publications can be found in the quarterly Lower Silesia, Znak, Zwierciadło, Radio Wrocław, Radio Szczecin, Polish Radio Trójka; he is an author of field recordings for WWF, Port Szczecin-Świnoujście and SWPS University of Social Sciences and Humanities, to name a few. He was granted the MKIDN 2020 Scholarship and the Lower Silesian Voivodeship Marshal’s Artistic Scholarship in 2009 for his musical individuality and for discovering other dimensions of music.
