He was born on the 2nd of April, 1964 in Wadowice, Poland. Tomasz is a graduate of the Direction of Photography and TV Production Department at the National Higher School of Film, Television and Theatre in Łódź (PWSFTiTV). He earned a doctorate in film arts from the Department of Direction of Photography at PWSFTiTV with his work “Logos w fotografii” (Logos in Photography). He currently lectures at PWSFTiTV in Łódź, Academy of Photography and Entrepreneurship in Białystok and at Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin. He lives in Warsaw.
He has served as a cinematographer on more than one hundred documentaries and six fiction films. He has been the cinematographer for documentaries such as: “Photographer” by Dariusz Jabłoński, “Komeda, Komeda”, “W szumie gwiazd jestem”, “Granatowy zeszyt” directed by Natasha Ziółkowska-Kurczuk; nature films: “Dzika Polska” (Wild Poland) (2007–2013), “Pancerne relikty puszcz” (Armoured Relics of Primeval Forests) (2014), “Tańczący z naturą” (Dancing with Nature) (2015–2016). He was a cinematographer for fiction films, including: “Złote runo” (Golden Fleece) by Andrzej Kondratiuk (1996), “Noc Świętego Mikołaja” (Night of St. Nicholas) by Janusz Kondratiuk from the series “Święta polskie” (Polish Christmas) (2000), “Baśń o ludziach stąd” (Tale of People from Here) byWładysław Sikora (2003), “Wino truskawkowe” (Strawberry Wine) by Dariusz Jabłoński (2008), “Zdjęcie” (The Photograph) by Maciej Adamek (2012).
Member of the Polish Film Academy. Recipient of the Pepinieres grant. In the 1990s he was a member of the Suwałki photography club “PAcamera”. There, in 1991, he held his first individual exhibition, “Od ziemi do nieba” (From Earth to Sky). He is interested in traditional photography. He photographs with a Hasselblad 6×6 cm camera and a Toyo 4×5″ camera. He has participated in many outdoor photographic events and exhibitions associated with the Biennale of Mountain Photography in Jelenia Góra. He was the author of individual exhibitions, including: “Pejzaż wewnętrzny” (Inner Landscape), presented at the FF Gallery in Łódź, “Pejzaż w środku świata” (Landscape in the Middle of the World), on display in 2012 at Galeria Korytarz (Corridor Gallery) in Jelenia Góra; exhibitions within the Opole Photography Festival in Opole, in 2018; the exhibition “Dwa obrazy świata” (Two Images of the World) at the Wolski Cultural Centre in Warsaw, in 2019. He also participated in many group exhibitions, including: “Nowa generacja w fotografii polskiej” (New Generation in Polish Photography) at BWA Gallery in Gorzów Wielkopolski, in 1991; “Zmiana warty” (Change of Guard) at FF Gallery, Łódź 1991; “Fotografia i przestrzeń” (Photography and Space) at FF Gallery in Łódź; BWA in Jelenia Góra, 1998–1999; “Pamiątka z Karkonoszy. Fotografia – nowe media” (Souvenir from the Karkonosze Mountains. Photography – new media) at BWA in Jelenia Góra, in 2006, and more recently in the following exhibitions: “PAcamera Club fotografie 1985–2015”, at the Contemporary Art Centre and Andrzej Strumiłło Gallery in Suwałki, in 2015; “Kontakty c.d.” (Contacts Continued) at BWA Gallery in Jelenia Góra in 2019. His photographs are featured in the collections of, among others, the Karkonosze Museum in Jelenia Góra, the District Museum in Suwałki and in private collections in Poland and abroad.
